well, I’m taking apart my computer and i was wondering if i can sell my windows xp home edition 2002 license to someone else. It comes with original license and cd. Can the other person reuse it?

Spore installer not launching on Windows Vista?

This is really irritating me. I’ve tried absolutly everything I can think of. Looked all over google and couldn’t find anything.. The problem is when I put the disc in, it doesnt launch the installer. When I look at it on “My Computer”, it says there’s a CD in there, but theres nothing I can do to get the installer to launch. I’ve been at it for almost 3 hours now and its really annoying me. There’s no way to maunally launch it, if you look in the CD nothings on it. This is my second install of Spore. I originally installed it on my XP machine, which crashed. Now im on Windows Vista and nothing can seem to get it to work. How do i fix it? If it can’t be fixed I would appreciate if someone could lend me a direct download of SPORE, obviously not for piracy reasons, I just cant get the hard copy installer to work. Please help!!
can microsoft tell if my windows xp is downloaded and an unofficial serial key is put in?

my friend and i keep going back and forth about this. He says that microsoft cannot and will not check his downloaded xp pro with a fake serial key for authenticity considering their shift to focusing on vista, even if he connects directly to microsofts updating service (the thing that would give him service packs and stuff) is this true? it seems like they could have a list of fake serial keys and know which ones are inauthentic and sue or somehow punish the downloader or key cracker… but im unsure if they have the right to take personal information from his computer without his permission… please tell me I’m right (not because i believe in some sort of software piracy demon that will haunt us, just cause i like to win arguements lol) oh yes, and i almost forgot, is the WGA (windows genuine checker application) the only thing that will give him away to MS? cuz his IE7 wont work with it cuz it says he’s on an illegit xp pro version, and idk if its sending info back to MS on him too (whenever i use yahoo answers, i always seem to leave some important part of the question out by accident lol)

I just to say this before some dick head starts accusing me of piracy I have the original Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Disk, but since it is about 12 years old. The cd case has lots of wear and tear and the cd key on the back has worn down and some of the letters and number have started to wear away and i have found a virus on my computer and don’t want to mess with hunting it down and removing it im going to just reinstall it but here is the problem the key is missing the last 2 numbers. realize I could just buy it online but don’t want to mess with re-buying it and I was wondering if there was any way for me to find the key on the cd or if there was any other way to find it. Problem registering Microsoft Windows Xp?

A few months ago there was a problem with my computer. It had a blue screen error. I took it to a technician who fixed it. When I brought it home I turned it on and when I logged in it said register Windows, I followed the instructions to retrieve the conformation I.D. but this didn’t work. They told me my I.D. was invalid or may have been a victim of piracy. They said to find out more info check some website which was no help. What I want to know is how this might have happened? Is there anyway round it? How can I fix it? I haven’t found Microsoft helpful. I would appreciate a solution, Thanks in advance. Points for best answer!

Before anything, I’d like to say that I own a legitamate license to use windows xp. What I lack is the cd to install it. Basically what’s happened is this: I have a computer that runs xp home edition (its a dell, dunno if that’s important or not) that got a virus. I’ve been meaning to reformat for awhile now, and this was just one more reason. Unfortunatley, I have missplaced the original OS install cd. I still have the license number (its on a sticker on the side of the case), so I was wondering if it were possible to download an iso of the install cd’s, so I could burn it to a dvd, reinstall windows, and just punch in my license number. (The drivers I’m not worried about, I can just download them from dell’s website) thanks, nNJZ P.s. Would this be legal? I mean, its not really piracy if I own a license to use the software, right? ok, so the issue of whether or not its legal to download is 2 to 1 in favor of it being legal.. Does anyone know where I could download it from? A link would be appreciated ^^
Why isn’t Windows Vista validating?

Ok. My computer is about 6 months old. I bought it from Wal-mart with Vista Home Basic installed on it. No problem with the OS until I bought a game called Splinter Cell, also from Wal-mart. After I installed Splinter Cell, I got a pop-up dialog box that said that I might be a victim of software piracy. This game is fresh out of the box, I doubt that it was pirated. It told me to validate my OS and behold it came out as not a Genuine OS. I don’t know why this is happening to me but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the matter and tell me a general way to go about fixing this. Oh, and will it hurt if it does not ever validate? What will it affect, if anything? also it won’t let me open my control panel

i just reinstall my windows xp on my computer & everything went fine.However, when i’m going to start up my computer it says ” 30 days left for activation, click here to activate windows” so i clicked it then something appeared & says… *to help reduce software piracy, please activate your copy of windows now. Activation over the internet is quick and easy. -do you want to activate windows? i clicked…yes lets activate windows over the internet now… then next REGISTER W/ MICROSOFT? registration is optional and is not required to activate windows.. -Do you want to register? i click…no, i dont want to register now. lets just activate windows… then i’m stuck there, coz i dont know if it is for free or i will pay for it…. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

i’m gonna go right out and say it…i’m a download freak. i download stuff 24/7 movies, music, tv shows …EVERYTHING now i heard vista has a DMR feature for piracy so my question is… do you get caught by the IRA if you’re downloading stuff illegally using Windows Vista cuz if you do…i gotta sell that new computer of mine who’s interested Vista 2GB Ram 160 hard drive webcam microphone fingerpring reader hp, 14.1″ imprint finish ok…how do i go about installing windows xp on it while it already has vista what’s the huge deal with the US about downloading anyways… ALL OTHER COUNTRIES are cool wiht it, true the artist and what not lose money but it’s not like what they lose put them on poverty level. what are other countries so fine with people downloading and the US so crazy about piracy laws?

the software was included when i bought my acer TravelMate 3210 laptop now i need to reformat my computer but i dont have the cd anymore…., but the product key number for the software is istill posted on the sticker of Proof of License Certificate of Authenticity on the bottom part of my laptop.
