I’ve come to the conclusion that PC gaming is not worth the cost and the hard ache. Here’s why I think Consoles are so much better…
1. Upgrading you computer constantly: How many countless times we’ve had to upgrade our video cards, cpu’s and memory just to play the latest Epic, or id software game the way it was intended to be played? Screw that. Paying 400+ bucks for a new nVidia, or ATI graphics card, and over a hundred+ for that new Core 2 Duo,or Athlon X2…
2. Driver problems: ATI and nVidia drivers can be a pain in the arse. You upgrade to the latest Catalyst, or Forceware drivers; they fix one thing, then cause hell with another thing, not to mention your chipset drivers conflicting…
3. Piracy: They hypocrisy of PC gamers shelling out hundreds of dollars to upgrade their leet box, only to download the latest games on BitTorrent. Shame, as PC game piracy is much more prevalent than Console games.
Consoles provide you with hassle free gaming experience for years to come..

hardware and software needed for DVD/Rental Gaming Business?
investigate the existing options for the business in regards to hardware, software, health, safety issues, security and cost. and how business are adapting to changes in information technology and thier ability to manage issues such as copyright, intellectual property, piracy, privacy and legislative requirements?please i really really need to get some more information.thank you very very very much..
Why do game companies like microsoft studios think they can stop the gaming pirates?
Let me tell all of you out there not in the know.
There are people out there who know how to get these games illegally, no matter the protection the companies put on it; and there damn good at it. In the end, all it does is piss off the legimate customers. Some game companies like the ones that developed fallout 3 do not putr any piracy protection on their games, because they know it is futile and will actually hurt business.
These game companies got rich before there was any piracy protection, they will stay rich still without piracy protection
“I’m confused as why you are angry why there are anti-piracy protections on games. If you got the game legit, I don’t see why there would be a problem with it since you’d have a CD Key or whatever validation.”
Buddy, game companies have made it to where you don’t “own” the game you purchased, you’re just renting it. For example, Mass Effect has a limit to how many times you can install the game, after tha you need to call or e-mail them to get “one” extra activation. On Empure:Total war, you don’t actually install the game on your computer, they allow you to install one of their server programs, and then play the game on that. So, you just payed fifty some odd dollars to rent a game.
Extra Info on the Mass Effect:
If any of the informnation on your computer changes ( graphics card,Os,Audio card, etc) Mass Effect will use one of your activation, because it reads you’re using another computer. If you have any issues with your computer, you may need to change a configuration in the system, Mass effect will use a activation. How does it do this? everytime you open that game it takes a long time. Why? because it is scanning your system’s information.

The Growing Realm of Online Gaming
A fair number of internet users spend time playing computer games. There are many kinds of games available online. MMPORGs, or massive multiplayer online role-playing games, are immensely popular, but there are other games online that have just as many fans. Internet gaming is changing, however. And fortunately for the gamers out there, the change is making better games more accessible than ever.
The History of Gaming
Games as a form of entertainment have existed for countless generations. As we have found more leisure time, we have enjoyed more games. In the last fifty years games have developed at record speed. Card and board games are still popular, but have given way to a huge wave of internet and personal computer gaming.
The first computer games were developed in the 1960s and 1970s, although the original idea of a video game was patented in 1948. The games were simple in nature and restricted to special kinds of computers. Then, as personal computers developed, games such as Spacewar! and King’s Quest became popular.
Computer games advanced with new technology such as the joystick and other peripherals as well as advanced 3D graphics. Tomb Raider was one of the first PC game to use 3D graphics, and the realism of games then increased exponentially.
With the advent of the internet, gaming took another turn. Games were now available on countless websites. Some games were free to users to be played directly on the site. Many more were available for download after registering or paying a fee. The internet was also the medium needed to expand traditional PC games. MMPORG games exploded thanks to the internet, and smaller, but still social, games exist as well.
Modern Internet Gaming
Today websites are offering more than ever to enthusiastic gamers. For years the best games were reserved for those who took the time to register or pay to access a certain website or get access to downloads. Memberships ranged in price, but many were willing to pay to have access to the best graphics and cutting-edge technology.
Gaming sites have begun to realize that restricting access isn’t working as well as they would like. Piracy and blatant theft have cheapened the value of the membership or downloadable games. Some individuals pay to access or download a particular game only to copy it and sell or give it to others. This frustrated the game producers immensely.
So they came up with the best solution they could. If they can’t control the distribution of a paid game, they would simply make it free. Gaming sites are moving away from downloadable games and instead focusing on game play directly online. Many still encourage or require a registration of some kind, but you are no longer required to purchase and download large files to experience the ultimate gaming these sites have to offer.
Advances in technology are accelerating and this includes games. Graphics and elements using Flash or Shockwave have made computer games almost lifelike. Designers and companies spend hundreds of dollars and hours to create these games only to be slapped in the face by theft and copyright infringement. The game creators are slapping back at pirates by hitting them where it hurts. A pirate can’t sell a great game if it happens to be available free online. And that is a great perk for the rest of us.
R4DS ? Homebrew Gaming Made Easy
There are a lot of Nintendo DS aficionados out there, and for each one, there are people working tirelessly on free and open source projects, creating unofficial “Homebrew” applications and games.
Homebrew
Homebrew opens the doors to a whole new world of software and games. The homebrew software is written by non Nintendo programmers using C and/or C++, and is hence unofficial, but in no way infringes on any copyrights, and is completely legal.
Homebrew on your Nintendo DS
With homebrew, your humble Nintendo DS transforms into an amazing device, on which you can watch movies, listen to music, browse though your photographs, or even read an e-book. Most people are afraid of homebrew as it is conceived to be complicated, however this is far from the truth, and there are multiple tutorials available which will explain the whole process to you in manner that’s concise and easy to understand. Homebrew is loaded onto your Nintendo DS via a third party re-writable cartridge, such as the R4DS. Any homebrew software can be loaded and deleted, without it affecting your Nintendo DS in any way, so it is completely safe, and will not harm your system in any way.
Getting started
Before you can start using homebrew on your Nintendo DS, you will need to buy yourself a flash card. There are multiple choices in both Slot1 and Slot2. Slot1 has a DS cartridge slot, where as Slot2 has the “Game boy advantage cartridge” slot, plus the DS cartridge slot. We recommend the ever popular R4DS or its bigger brother the R4iDS. Both fit snug into the Nintendo DS and leave no room for complaint. However it is important to note that due to a design flaw in the Nintendo DS, the loading spring eventually gets weak, so use it only when necessary. A workaround is to not take out the cartridge ever time you want to change the data on it, what you can do instead is to just take out the memory card from the cartridge, and place it back when you are done.
The cartridge
The R4Ds or R4i DS cartridge can be loaded with a SDHC card. SDHC cards are available in an array of sizes, right from 1GB to the most recent development, a 32GB card. Speeds also vary, between classes 2 through 6 in multiples of 2.
Piracy
Beware of piracy; there are a lot of clones and even pirated components available in the market. Many of these cheap knock-offs don’t only provide inferior support, they can also damage your hardware, or your SDHC. Always purchase equipment from a verified seller, to protect yourself, and your Nintendo DS.
NINTENDO DS Homebrew applications
With newer devices like the r4 siblings boot up tools are no longer required. A host of software can be used on the Nintendo DS. The top favorites are Colors, DS Lines, DSOrganize, DSWiki and MoonShell.

Cyberarts Nominated for Gaming Software Award
CyberArts, the world’s premier supplier of online gaming software, is pleased to be recognized by the IGA for its commitment to supporting operators with the underlying software and design resources they need to become market leaders. Among CyberArts’ clients are today’s most cutting-edge and profitable gaming companies, including Gioco Digitale, Pureplay, La Francaise de Jeux, Zest Networks, and Card Player Media. As a nominee for the Innovation in Technology award, CyberArts has created a major paradigm shift in the online poker gaming market with its flexible, customizable Foundation platform. Foundation’s unique architecture and licensing structure overcomes the inherent flaws of the White Label Network (WLN) model prevalent in online gaming by addressing the key concerns of network operators: Profitability: Within a WLN, operators must agree to burdensome revenue sharing – industry standard rate is from 15% to 24% of top line revenues to the network – making it all but impossible to build a highly profitable and sustainable business. In addition, the shared liquidity of players across a network promotes cannibalism between operators, leading to further erosion of profitability through reliance upon affiliates and their associated rake back fees. Rather than expand their player base and profitability, operators instead face margin contraction and a race for the bottom. By extending full control of their networks to operators, Foundation completely eliminates or substantially reduces revenue sharing and rake back, thus protecting top line revenues and profits. Customization: With a WLN, operators are not only extremely limited in how they can brand their site, they also have no control over their players, tournaments, or game selection. Operators using CyberArts’ Foundation are able to create their own network brand with their own liquidity to attract – and retain – new players. NAME, TITLE at La Francaise de Jeux agrees: “We needed CyberArts to add many special features. The modular nature of Foundation, as well as CyberArts flexibility, made it possible for them to fulfill every one of our requirements.” Compliance with local regulations: Regulatory requirements can vary greatly from region to region. Meeting these complex regulations, such as mirroring all transactions through government servers (Italy) or supporting individual player sanctions (France), can be daunting even for established companies. Gioco Digitale, for example, believed it could acquire a strong player base by offering a unique playing experience. “CyberArts helped Gioco Digitale win the race to become the first legal poker room in Italy,” said Carlo D’Acunto, CTO at Gioco Digitale. “The Foundation platform has proven to be scalable and flexible, allowing us to rapidly add features and network partners, and giving us the stability to run the largest online poker tournaments in Italy.” As a result, Gioco Digitale evolved from a company with no players to dominating the Italy market in just 27 months. Network stability: With Foundation, operators have full control over their network, their operations, and their players. The ability to manage their servers directly as well as determine when to perform updates ensures that operators can meet all regulatory requirements as well as keep their brand fresh to expand their player base. Barry Shulman, CEO of Card Player Media, says, “We wanted extensive customization for SpadeClub that only CyberArts could supply. We needed a flexible, stable platform backed by a world-class custom software development team.” CyberArts is currently developing technology to bring the same flexibility, inherent customizability, and control to Bingo as it does to poker. Most Bingo software restricts operators to a small subset of games and offers only limited ability to configure skins. With its Bingo 2.0 platform, CyberArts enables operators to create Bingo rooms with any look, interaction model, or rule variations. In addition to providing an extensive range of features, Bingo 2.0 supports embedded side games. Side games – such as slot machines, casino table games (blackjack, roulette), and family fun games (non-gambling games such as Bejeweled) – keep players engaged while Bingo games are played in the background. Supporting a subscription-based model to allow for US-facing operations, these side games create revenue streams which are often more lucrative than those generated from Bingo alone. CyberArts has established itself as the leading supplier of flexible and reliable technology for building highly scalable networks that meet stringent regulatory requirements while protecting an operator’s most valuable assets. Committed to providing the foundation software operators need to compete and succeed in this aggressively competitive market, CyberArts continues to revolutionize the online gaming industry with products that help operators differentiate themselves and generate highly profitable, sustainable revenue streams.
