I just recently i received a letter from my ISP (Charter) saying i infringed on copyright laws on something i downloaded 3 weeks ago or something. I’m guessing its not safe to download anymore right? What can they do to me if i do download another application, movie, or song?

I am writing a book, and it is a fictional fantasy book. I have this tribe in the story, they aren’t the cat women you see on Batman and in comic-books, they are actual half-women, half-cats, they have facial features of cats, not silly like Cat In The Hat, they are serious and have features of cats. DC Comics have used a human catwoman, so have Marvel. They are two of the biggest rivals of the century, and my cat women are totally different to theirs. Do you think I would be ok to include feline ladies in my story?

We hold a Microsoft Volume Licence for Office 2007 Standard, which includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Inadvertently, someone has used the install Office 2007 Professional Plus install. They’ve still only installed the components listed above, so technically nothing extra has been added, but I’m not sure how this works from a licensing point of view.
I should add that said person (not me as it happens, which is one good thing) has installed this on around a hundred PC’s thus far.

let’s say thAt you were to connect to. Neighbors password free wifi connection or Possibly hack their wifi using a program such as kismac or a packet sniffer
then while on there network use a program such a tor or a proxy firewall or a ip scrabler and download torrents from sites such as the pirate bay and limewire
would you in fact be 100% anonimous and say they (riaa mpaa) were able to trace it by fluke or a tag would they trace it to your neighbor or to you computer via something like a mac address
Your thoughts?
Again this is hypothetical and is for a project I am working on at school about piracy and attemps to counter it
say that the mac adress was to be increpted (if this is possible)
and say hypothetically you were to find a signal far away from you and hide a wifi repeator that would make it harder to pin on you

Just like what the words Public domain software implies, it has no absolute ownership such as copyright, trademarks and the likes of the intellectual property, a software in the public domain represents.
Under a free software license, the public domain may or may not be used incorrectly because of such. However, even if there are times that the software released was under a license that grants rights to anyone say for example freedom to exploit, modify or even redistribute the creation, the copyrights or any other rights may still be held by the original creator. Thus, the creation was therefore banned in the public domain.
For anyone’s proper orientation regarding public domain software, according to the Berne convention, which has been signed and agreed upon by most countries, a creator automatically obtains an exclusive copyright to anything that they have created and that in addition to that, a local lay may grant various other intellectual property rights by default to such situation. Automatically, under Berne, any derivative works have copyright protection soon as it has been created and cannot be disclaimed unless for some certain conditions that can be found under the intellectual property law.
Going back to the public domain software, for clarity sake, according to the Free Software Foundation they are recommending “public domain” in order to be strict in conveying meanings. In other words, the public domain software is not necessarily free software but is freeware and that on the other side of the coin, an executable program in a public domain may be in the public domain even if the source code is not made available, so one should still be cautious on what to download. Anyway, that person will realized that as soon as he encounter the said situation, but there’s no need to worry though because you can still look for another file that has the same functions that you want using the river-file pool of the public domain.
However most gratis software is not in the public domain, hence they are released under a free software license that permits distribution of the software as long as no charge is levied.
