I won what was advertised as a large personal collection of dvds on ebay. The package came in the mail yesterday and it was over 300 very poor quality bootleg dvds. Some have fake cases, but a lot of them are in cd booklet and some don’t even have labels, just the title written in marker.
I reported it to ebay through pay pal, and I requested a full refund including the shipping costs, and I got a response from the seller that he would give me a refund if I send the movies back.
I thought he should give the refund back first, since I have a feeling I am getting ripped off here. He is telling me that I am protected through ebay to get my refund once he gets back the movies, but I still don’t trust him.
I want to report him, too, for piracy. I don’t know if I will be able to if I send the dvds back, and I also do not trust him to refund my money. Even if he does, I have to pay for return shipping.
Do I have to have the movies in order to report the piracy?
Where do I go to report it?
Am I sure to get the refund if I send the movies back?

eBay protects you along with paypal. You’ll get your money back as long as you send the items back and supply a tracking number.
Start w/your home state Attorney General – as this is MAIL FRAUD – Take pictures of this DVDs’ and make copies of AD from EBAY. If the AG doesn’t want to keep the DVDs as evidence and you want you money back you will have to pony up the return postage (as a loss).
report him to the Feds.. its a crime, they would be happy to her from you.. don’t return the movies/dvds until you talk to the feds and don’t call him back either, make him think you don’t care, let him get busted…
BE WELL-TR
PayPal has a rule that you have to return the product before they and the seller is obligated to give you a refund. If you want your money back, get those DVD’s back in the mail as soon as possible before your time runs out. And don’t forget to use tracking or delivery confirmation. If you don’t use tracking or delivery confirmation, the seller can claim he never got them and you couldn’t prove otherwise to get your refund. The seller is correct that PayPal and eBay favors the buyer in cases like this. You will get your money back because PayPal they will take the money out of his account. Make sure you keep any correspondence with the seller in the resolution system, not privately on the side.
